What to look for

What a great HYROX coach actually does

The race punishes single-lane athletes: runners die on the sleds, lifters die on the runs. A HYROX coach's job is building both engines at once without one eating the other — and turning the stations into rehearsed skills, not surprises.

Balances running and strength in one week

Interference is the whole puzzle. Your coach sequences run volume, compromised-running sessions and strength work so they add up instead of cancelling out — something generic running or lifting plans can't do.

Trains the stations as skills

Sled push and pull, wall balls, burpee broad jumps, the SkiErg — each has technique and pacing that saves minutes when practised and costs minutes when winged. Station work is programmed, not left to race day.

Builds compromised running on purpose

Running fresh means nothing at HYROX — it's running off the sled that decides your time. Expect intervals stacked directly onto station efforts, because that's the actual sport.

Paces your race before you run it

Most first-timers blow up by station four. Your coach sets split targets from your training data — and Repstra's race-simulation workouts log your station splits so you both know exactly what's realistic.

Questions

Before you hire

How long do I need to train for my first HYROX?

With a consistent gym background, most coaches want 8–12 weeks of specific prep; from a lower base, 16+ weeks is honest. The limiter is usually compromised running — running well while fatigued from stations — and that adapts over weeks, not days. A coach will assess where you are and set a race date that isn't a survival exercise.

Can I train for HYROX in a normal gym?

Mostly, yes. Runs, wall balls, lunges, farmer's carries, rower and SkiErg are standard kit; sleds are the common gap. A good coach programs substitutions that produce the same adaptation and tells you which stations are worth seeking out a HYROX-affiliated gym to rehearse before race day.

Does Repstra cost me anything?

No. Coaching stays free for clients — the app, your workouts, nutrition tracking, check-ins and messaging never cost you a cent. You only ever pay your coach, at the price they set, directly.

How do I know a coach is actually good before I pay?

Every coach on Repstra publishes their real methodology — how they program, how they handle nutrition, how they check in — before they can charge anyone. Read their actual work, compare a few, then message the one who makes sense to you. No blind commitment.

Do I have to train in person, or is it online?

Both exist on the marketplace. Many coaches work fully online — you get your program, log workouts, track food and check in through the app from anywhere. Others list a location if they also train in person. Each profile says how they work.
