What to look for

What a great running coach actually does

Most self-coached runners run their easy days too hard, their hard days too soft, and add distance until something hurts. A coach's value is dosage: the right stress, at the right time, adjusted to how you're actually absorbing it.

Builds volume you can absorb

Mileage progressed off your history and recovery, not a generic table. The plan bends around your week — because the best program is the one that survives contact with your life.

Makes hard days actually count

Threshold, intervals and long-run quality with paces set from your current fitness, not your goal time. Every session logged, so next week's targets come from evidence.

Manages the niggles before they're injuries

Your check-ins — soreness, sleep, energy — reach your coach every week (Apple Watch data can sync in too). A calf that's 'a bit tight' gets a down-week now instead of six weeks off later.

Gets you to the line with a plan

Taper, fuelling and pacing strategy set in advance — so race day executes something you've rehearsed instead of negotiating with yourself at kilometre four.

Questions

Before you hire

Why hire a coach instead of using a free running plan?

A plan is a guess about an average runner; a coach responds to you. When you miss a week, run a session too fast, or a niggle shows up in your check-ins, a coach reshapes what's next — a PDF just keeps marching. That feedback loop is most of the injury-prevention and most of the improvement.

What distances do endurance coaches on Repstra cover?

Everything from a first 5K to marathons, trail ultras and hybrid events like HYROX. Each coach's published methodology says who they work with best — read a few and pick the one whose runners look like you.

Does Repstra cost me anything?

No. Coaching stays free for clients — the app, your workouts, nutrition tracking, check-ins and messaging never cost you a cent. You only ever pay your coach, at the price they set, directly.

How do I know a coach is actually good before I pay?

Every coach on Repstra publishes their real methodology — how they program, how they handle nutrition, how they check in — before they can charge anyone. Read their actual work, compare a few, then message the one who makes sense to you. No blind commitment.

Do I have to train in person, or is it online?

Both exist on the marketplace. Many coaches work fully online — you get your program, log workouts, track food and check in through the app from anywhere. Others list a location if they also train in person. Each profile says how they work.
