What a great strength coach actually does
Past the beginner stage, strength stops responding to "just add weight". A strength coach manages the variables you can't see from inside your own training — fatigue, technique drift, and when to push versus back off.
Periodises around your life
Volume and intensity waved over weeks and months so you peak when it matters — a meet, a season, or just a PR attempt — instead of grinding at 90% year-round until something gives.
Audits your technique, lift by lift
Leaked bracing, a bench bar path that wanders, a deadlift that starts soft off the floor — small fixes worth more kilos than months of extra volume. Every logged session gives your coach the data to catch it.
Picks accessories with a job
Everything after the main lift exists to fix a weakness in the main lift. A coach chooses accessories off where you fail, not off what fills an hour.
Knows when not to test
The fastest way to stall is maxing out every fortnight. Your coach holds you to the plan when you feel great and pulls you back when the bar speed says you're not — that judgement is the product.
Before you hire
I don't want to compete — is a powerlifting coach still right for me?
Yes. Most clients of strength coaches never step on a platform — they just want a bigger squat, bench and deadlift with joints that still work. The same programming principles apply; the coach simply peaks you for PR days instead of meets.
How does online strength coaching handle technique?
You log every session in the app and film your top sets; your coach reviews the video and the bar-speed story your numbers tell, then adjusts cues and loading in your next block. Many lifters find written video review more thorough than a distracted eye across a busy gym floor.
Does Repstra cost me anything?
No. Coaching stays free for clients — the app, your workouts, nutrition tracking, check-ins and messaging never cost you a cent. You only ever pay your coach, at the price they set, directly.
How do I know a coach is actually good before I pay?
Every coach on Repstra publishes their real methodology — how they program, how they handle nutrition, how they check in — before they can charge anyone. Read their actual work, compare a few, then message the one who makes sense to you. No blind commitment.
Do I have to train in person, or is it online?
Both exist on the marketplace. Many coaches work fully online — you get your program, log workouts, track food and check in through the app from anywhere. Others list a location if they also train in person. Each profile says how they work.
